I Look At You

I Look At You

As if looking at an Alien
The sight of you leaves me in awe
You look a lot like me
Yet
You look a lot unlike me

Tell me
What is this that makes you a sight to behold?
Why do I look at you with so much admiration?
Yet

You treat me like lower specie
A monkey or a primate
Not intelligent enough
Too black to be beautiful
Too voluptuous to be sexy
Too timid to be in control

My mind tells me I ought to hate you
You have manipulated and abused my hospitality
A pest, a tick, a bug
Sucking the life and everything precious from me
But I still look at you in awe
