Ghanaian Soul musician Efya will be performing at the next exclusive Tusker Malt Lager club 100.

Efya is Jane Awindor of Irene & Jane fame, a duo that has been in the Ghanaian music scene till their split to pursue separate careers in 2008. Jane now Efya is also a former participant in Stars of the Future.

“Efya is my name. It’s who I am and who I’ve always been, but I needed to be ‘Miss Jane’ in order to discover Efya. I’ve found out what kind of music I want to do now. The ‘Jane’ from ‘Irene and Jane’ is over; that time was for us to grow in the music industry, to know the right things to do. We spent three years working hard and now I can stand on stage and do a whole one hour performance by myself and it’s because I went through that training process. Efya is ‘Miss Jane’ evolved.”

Jane was born in a family of entertainers. Her mother, Adwoa Awindor, is the popular host of the program ‘Greetings from Abroad’. Jane has been singing since she was six. She attended Yaa Asantewaa Secondary School and then moved on to the University of Ghana.

Irene and Jane

Irene and Jane were discovered through Charterhouse’s Stars of the Future pop contest where Irene emerged the winner and declared Ghana’s International Music Star and Jane who came in third. They have blended their talents and had thrilling experiences working together after spending most of their lives as solo artistes.

Their debut video featuring the hit single, Heat it up, featured Nana Tuffour aka NeezBuck (University of Pennsylvania) while their Unveiled album also featured Amandzeba Nat Brew, Blu3 (Uganda) and Wutah. Some of their songs included Odo kai, Baby, Ding dong, Girl power, Don’t wanna be lonely, Don’t give up, Rivers, Always, etc.

Efya’s A Moment’s notice and Nothing nu were featured on the soundtracks for one of Ghana’s best ever movies, The Perfect Picture.

Some of her songs are Nothin Nu, Blow my mind, A Moment’s Notice, Little things, etc

Jane now Efya

The ‘Jane’ from ‘Irene and Jane’ is over; that time was for us to grow in the music industry, to know the right things to do. We spent three years working hard and now I can stand on stage and do a whole one hour performance by myself and it’s because I went through that training process. Efya is ‘Miss Jane’ evolved.”
